What Fossils can you find at Besom Hill?

(Looking for Calamities) - 2004

You will probably come away with a few Calamities specimens, the problem is most of the fossils are all found in one thin layer, the highly fossiliferious Bullion Mine Marine Band. If you can find hard nodules too, these contain excellent specimens. During our 2004 trip, a huge boulder at the bottom of the scree slope was packed with Calamities, the nodule was too large to carry back and so we decided to leave it on site for others to see during future trips.

Within the Marine Band, Goniatites, preserved in hard concretions called bullions can be found along with Bivalves (Dunbarella), fish remains such as teeth, scales and fin spines.
